Our Story

Coffee from Indonesia has travelled far for centuries, often leaving little behind. We believe it can travel differently.

We work with local Indonesian roasters to bring specialty coffee beans closer to where it belongs, at origin. By roasting in Indonesia and shipping directly to coffee enthusiats around the world, we shorten the journey from bean to cup and preserve what makes each Indonesian coffee bean distinctive.

This is a different way of sharing Indonesian coffee. One that values craft, freshness, and the people closest to the land.

"Inspired by the idea that coffee trade should honour the people behind the product."

FROM THE GLOBAL COFFEE COMMUNITY

Indonesian Coffee Is No Longer Just “Earthy and Musty”

Across forums, cupping tables, and home-brewing communities, Indonesian coffees are being rediscovered by coffee enthusiasts .
"They make incredible beans now, and their roasting game has been really strong over the past few years. They’re moving away from the stigma of dark-roasted, chocolatey, hazelnut-heavy profiles, and instead focusing on very sweet, juicy, and complex notes. Having tried them myself, some of these coffees are definitely worthy of consideration — especially producers from West Java and Aceh."
"Indonesian coffees no longer fit the common stereotype of being bitter, nutty, earthy, and heavy-bodied. In the specialty arabica space, flavour profiles tend to be complex, sweet, and high in acidity, with a wide range of regional variation — from Aceh Gayo and Bali Kintamani to Papua."
"I agree. The coffee that got me into specialty was Bali Kintamani. I remember my local roaster telling me it was kind of funky, and that really sent me down this road. I’ve also had another great Indonesian coffee — I think it was from Aceh."
"While bitter profiles are often associated with robusta brewed via local methods like tubruk, the specialty arabica market in Indonesia is completely different. Light–medium filter roasts are common, washed coffees are relatively rare, and experimental processing methods such as anaerobic natural, honey, and carbonic maceration are widely used."
"Indonesian coffee isn’t as well known globally due to old perceptions of bold flavours and strong local demand that keeps much of the best supply in the country. But regions like Ijen, Semendo, and Aceh produce lighter, fruitier coffees that fit modern preferences. The specialty coffee scene there is growing rapidly, showing how much things are evolving.”
"Indonesia has an incredible number of coffee roasters — so many that it’s hard to keep up, with new ones opening all the time. I mostly drink filter coffee and look for fruity, acidic, and sweet profiles rather than heavily roasted styles. I’ve travelled across Indonesia — from Jakarta and Jogja to Solo, Flores, and Bali — visiting roasters and farms, and there’s still far more to explore."
Our role is simple: to make these coffees accessible responsibly, by working closely with roasters and producers, without stripping away what makes each region distinct.
